With the outdoor table as her workstation and Nathan as her able assistant, Sahra last night performed her first BB body piercing on Turkan. Though previously interested in having her nether regions pierced, Turkan decided a navel piercing was in order and started mentally preparing herself for what was to come.

The nervous housemates gathered around the table, all offering encouragement and advice as to how things should be done. In an attempt to lighten the mood Mirabai joked, “Ok Turkan, off to the slaughterhouse”.

Turkan remained calm as she watched Sahra lay out the needles and clamps but started to look at little worried when the rubber gloves appeared. Sahra knelt down in front of Turkan to mark the point of incision with a texta Big Brother had given her in the Diary Room earlier. And then it was time.

Turkan, now looking more than a little scared, lay down on the bench while the other housemates crowded around. Shannon offered pain deferral therapy by massaging Turkan’s head while Aaron held Turkan’s hand tightly. The surrounding garden and the soothing music emanating from Damian strumming his guitar in the background created an atmosphere similar to a tribal initiation ceremony.

Sahra motioned for them to clear space and then she began the procedure. Collected breaths were drawn as the housemates watched Sahra and Nathan clamp Turkan’s skin and make the piercing with the needle. Turkan winced once or twice but remained brave and within a few minutes it was all over.

The housemates all cheered and then 'oohhed' and 'aahhed' as Turkan sat up to reveal a shiny turquoise ball ring attached to her belly button
